The Journal of Global Studies in Education is a peer-reviewed, international journal that is committed to promoting debate among academics, students and policy experts with a special focus on globalization. While there is no singular definition for the term globalization, the Journal of Global Studies in Education endeavors to explore the varied ways that globalization is interpreted and debated across global, regional, and national spaces. Most importantly the journal is focused on the effects of globalization on educational theory, institutions, and pedagogical practices. The journal’s aim is to foster an interdisciplinary analysis of globalization that brings together scholars, policy experts, teachers and practitioners, across diverse fields of study. Areas of inquiry are not limited to education but include sociology, philosophy, media studies, information science, communication, anthropology, political science, economics, finance, and business management.

- Defining and historicizing globalization and its effects on education
- Global mobility and migration
- Information and communication technologies and their impact on knowledge and learning
- Multiple forms of capitalism, the global market, financial crisis and education
- Theories on openness and open systems, including open forms of education and learning
- The creative economy, knowledge economy and educational reform
- The global transformation of knowledge production and the changing role of higher educational institutions
- Inter-cultural, multi-cultural, and cosmopolitan citizenship
- Post-modernism, post-structuralism, post-colonialism, post-industrialism, post-humanism and (post)education.
